It’s a basketry technique that once you’ve learnt the fundamentals, you can unleash your creativity and apply it to so many materials and forms to create stunning baskets and sculptures. How exciting is that!

One day I decided to experiment with weaving patterns into a basket using different coloured material. And it’s so much fun I wanted to share it!

I love making string (or what basket makers call cordage). It’s a basic basketry technique that is fun to learn and experiment with.

I seem to be always wearing a bracelet made from foraged plants I’ve woven into string. I think it so unique and reminds me of how wonderful basketry is. I make them for friends as gifts as well.

String is a basketry technique that once you’ve learnt it, you can unleash your creativity and apply it making larger basket using it as the weaver, or as the handle for baskets, or simply to use for tying things up!
