A full day workshop so you can make and finish a beautiful woven mini baskets with patterns.

It will be held in the beautiful heritage listed Kendall Community Hall. Located at Kendall, 25 mins from Port Macquarie and 4 hours north of Sydney.

Learn how to weave stunning baskets with patterns even if you have never woven before! I usually teach this online, and this very special workshop will be held in person for the first time in two years. Don’t miss it!

Using beautiful jute you will be weaving patterns into the basket using different coloured material. And it’s so much fun and suitable for beginners.

By the end of this workshop, not only will have multiple gorgeous baskets, but you will be a confident in this basketry technique.

You’ll learn the proper technique, how to start and do multiple finishes as well as the patterns including straight line, diagonal, checkerboard and chevron.

This course is for you if:

  • You want to learn how the learn the ancient basketry technique of twining, but don’t know where to start.
  • You don’t have any experience weaving patterns.
  • You only know one or two ways to start and finish a basket, but want to learn more.
  • You’re looking for a fun, relaxing creative outlet, and an enjoyable way to spend your downtime.

Learning at your own pace, this practical course is suitable for beginners and intermediate weavers, and you will end finished baskets and confidence to do more!

Catriona Pollard – Basketry artist and teacher

As a practicing basketry artist and teacher, her unique sculptural work offers glimpses of shapeshifting natural forms, from unnoticed branches, leaves and seedpods into stunning works that celebrate the abundance of nature.

She uses foraged and discarded plant material with traditional basketry and assemblage techniques to reimagine nature.

Her art is about truly seeing the extraordinary in everyday moments. Simply, it’s about being still, and letting the beauty surface.

She has had several solo exhibitions and exhibited extensively in selected and group exhibitions. She’s been finalist in many art awards including Emerging Artist of the Year Craft NSW, Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize, Northern Beaches Art Prize, North Sydney Art Prize, Warringah Art Prize, and Mosman Art Gallery.

She teaches sold out workshops in her studio in Sydney, week long residentials at art schools and also internationally.
